Modern Mental Health, an outpatient psychiatry practice in Chicago, Illinois. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing science from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. As a registered nurse, Katie worked in various specialties until she decided to continue her education and knowledge by becoming a family nurse practitioner. She earned her master’s degree in nursing science from Clarkson College in Omaha, Nebraska. As a family nurse practitioner, Katie ran a rural healthcare clinic and worked in hospitals, but quickly found her niche in psychiatry. Katie has experience in a variety of different psychiatric treatment settings, and she is exciting to begin working in private practice. Katie is currently working towards her Doctor of Nursing Practice at Duke University.
Katie strives to meet clients where they are and enjoys helping clients identify their own treatment goals. She encourages her clients to be active participants in their care, tailoring client treatment plans to individual client needs. Katie likes collaborating with other health professionals. She seeks common goals to maximize the overall health and wellbeing of her clients.
Katie is a seasoned telehealth practitioner and has discovered that this innovative approach offers clients unparalleled flexibility in scheduling appointments. By providing a more convenient and comfortable platform for mental health care, she effectively strengthens the therapeutic relationship, ultimately leading to a more impactful and transformative experience.
In her free time, Katie enjoys spending time with her family. She is married with three children, together they enjoy spending time outdoors, trying new foods, and traveling.

Meghan is a board-certified psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, specializing in addiction and mental health, who currently practices at Modern Mental Health, an outpatient practice conveniently located in downtown Chicago. Meg has lived in three different states in the midwest, but now has settled in Chicago where she has been for her entire career. She completed her undergraduate degree with a BSN from University of Wisconsin-Madison and later her graduate degree at Rush University. Meg has nearly 10 years of experience in the field of psychiatry, previously working with an underserved population with serious mental illness, then in an inpatient setting at Rush University Medical Center focused on consultation-liaison psychiatry, and later addressing substance use disorders both in the hospital treating acute withdrawal and in the outpatient setting focusing on ongoing medication management. Prior to working as an NP, Meg worked as a Registered Nurse at Rush University Medical Center for over 7 years working in Hematology/Oncology.
Meg is excited to return to the outpatient setting which provides the opportunity for longer engagement with her clients and the ability to share in their recovery and successes. Her passion is working with those with substance use disorders, including opioid use disorder and alcohol use disorder, and Meg has the specialized license to prescribe buprenorphine (suboxone). She also specializes in working with those with PTSD, depressive disorders, and anxiety disorders, and specifically has an interest in working with postpartum depression.
In her free time, Meg loves spending time with her family, traveling, sports, cooking (as well as enjoying all the cuisine Chicago has to offer), and being outdoors. Meg also likes to focus on initiatives in the city dedicated to harm reduction in chronic opioid use amidst the opioid epidemic. She is working to form coalitions with various groups in Chicago, as well as bridging treatment from inpatient rehabilitation for SUD to outpatient management.

She received both her Master of Science in Nursing and Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Rush University College of Nursing. Alecia has nearly 10 years of experience in the field of psychiatry. As a registered nurse, Alecia worked in both child/adolescent and adult inpatient psychiatric units and the operating room. In addition to treating clients, Alecia is an instructor at the Rush University College of Nursing, within the Community, Systems, and Mental Health Nursing Department.
As a provider, Alecia enjoys connecting with clients and getting to know them on a personal level. She understands that reaching out for help is not always easy, but she is willing to meet clients where they are at. Her passion is treating adults with mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD, PTSD, substance use disorders, BIPOC clients, and LGBTQIA+ identifying clients.

Amy Rust, NP, is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with over 15 years of experience working in psychiatry and mental health. She is excited to join her longtime friend and colleague, Dr. Zachary Kordik, at Modern Mental Health by Dr. Zachary Kordik, located in the Loop in downtown Chicago, Illinois.
Amy earned her master’s in nursing science at Rush University and holds two bachelor’s degrees in nursing and psychology. She has spent most of her nursing and nurse practitioner career at Rush University Medical Center and Northwestern Medicine in Chicago. She is looking forward to working in private practice for the more personalized approach to care that it allows. She has extensive experience working with a wide variety of mental health conditions at all levels of care and finds outpatient psychiatry and the long-term relationships with her patients to be incredibly rewarding.
At Modern Mental Health by Dr. Zachary Kordik, Amy treats patients seeking help for many different mental health issues, including mood disorders and anxiety. She is also particularly experienced in working with women of reproductive years, and treating their mental health needs through pregnancy, postpartum, fertility challenges, pregnancy and infant loss, transition to motherhood, adjusting to different roles as families grow, and related issues. A mother of three herself, Amy has had personal experience with many of these challenges and helps patients navigate through the healing process.

his medical degree and completed his residency in Psychiatry at Rush University Medical

Dr. Kordik currently works at Modern Mental Health, a psychiatry practice he founded in 2011,

anxiety, and substance abuse. Dr. Kordik is also an attending physician at Rush University
Medical Center, where he is a faculty assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry. He
has served as the medical director of addiction and mental health services at several substance abuse treatment programs in Chicago, including the nationally recognized Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation and the Presence Health Professionals Program at St. Joseph’s Hospital, a program for the treatment of addiction in high accountability professionals from health care, law, and business.
Dr. Kordik was born and raised in Illinois and has lived in Chicago since 2001. His activities outside of medicine include volunteering in several organizations, including serving as a current board member at Access Living, a leading Chicago based advocacy group for people with disabilities, as well as on the Associates Board at the Judd Goldman Adaptive Sailing Foundation. Prior to joining the Modern Mental Health team Cari worked at Hinsdale Hospital on the Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit, at the Hinsdale Partial hospitalization program, as well as in the outpatient setting at a practice based in Hinsdale. Cindy Hayes, L.C.S.W., is a licensed clinical social worker and currently the Practice Director at Modern Mental Health. She completed her masters in social work at Loyola University Chicago and received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Cindy has worked and volunteered in various social service settings in Chicago, including child welfare agencies, schools and hospitals, however mental health has been the focus for the majority of her career. Prior to joining Modern Mental Health in the fall of 2020, she was employed at Rush University Medical Center as a clinical social worker in inpatient psychiatry and later on the consultation-liaison psychiatry service.
Cindy was born and raised in Illinois and lived in Chicago for 20 years, before recently relocating to the northern suburbs. In her freetime she enjoys exercising, dining out and spending time with her family and portuguese water dog.
